Ophis was founded in
2001 by Peter Kelby and Nigel Bell. Its roots lie in, and
its focus continues to be on, what the Office of Government
Commerce (OGC) calls “ICT-enabled business change”. This
rather ungainly phrase recognises that most “IT projects”
are nothing of the sort; they are business change
initiatives which somewhere in the mix, whether a large or
small part, have an information systems or technology component
which enables and supports the process, cultural,
organisational or other change which the business must
undergo.
Successful ICT-enabled
business change requires a demanding mix of capabilities
which Ophis is pleased to deploy elsewhere, whether in
leadership coaching, organisational design, change
management, strategy development, procurement policy, ICT
architecture or many other aspects of business management
and leadership.
We work at senior
levels in a wide range of sectors including both public
services and private enterprises (see
Pedigree).
Where necessary, we draw in specialist expertise from an
enviable network of independent consultants and larger
organisations, all of whom are attuned to how and why we
work as we do. Being a specialist in something is however
not enough – we seek out people who also have a breadth of
experience which enables them to see things from different
perspectives and to help clients to move through sticking
points.
